Haikus of Trust

By Jane Tawel

*

Frightened, hard, closed fists.

Yearning, open hands.

Faith is in the unknowning.

*

A Tree grows in light.

The night stunts its reach.

But the roots grow in the dark.

*

I have great fear of going blind.

To see nothing would impair my sense of self.

But what senses of Otherness would rise in me,

the blind traveler,

were I to keep walking?
